Opening reception for the artist on Saturday, January 23, 6-8pm
Houston artist Dan Fabian will construct something like the above drawing at Optical Project over the next two weekends. Standing on a low platform, viewers will be able to spy through it into Bill's Junk next door, making everyone feel self-conscious.
Artadia award-winning artist and J.D. candidate at the University of Houston Law Center Dan Fabian translates the absurd and bizarre occurrences of everyday life into absurd and bizarre drawings and sculptures that arouse in the viewer the primoridial questions, "is there imminent danger?," and "why do I exist?"
Optical Project is an art space in the Heights run by Houston artist and writer Bill Davenport, who loves Dan Fabian's sculptures. It is located near the intersection of Studewood and 11th Sts. in the Heights, next door to DaCapo's bakery and Bill's Junk. You can't miss it.
